It crawled out of Medical Lake!

John Carpenter (Halloween [1978]) has a new horror flick coming out, and a Coeur d'Alene actress is in it. The Ward is being screened at Hollywood's Egyptian Theater next Friday, Sept. 17, and then it's supposed to premiere (though we can't confirm it yet) on Sept. 24, building toward a gradual release.

Carpenter hasn't done a feature since Ghosts of Mars (2001).

Better yet, The Ward was filmed in Medical Lake last August at Eastern State Hospital — and CdA resident Jillian Kramer not only got to be in it, she worked her way up from extra to stunt double to lead monster. In fact, it took hours to apply her "Monster Alice" makeup every day.

The movie's about a young woman held in a creepy corner of a psychiatric ward, and the other girls are even creepier, and then super-creepy things start happening at night. Involving ghosts

Amber Heard (Pineapple Express, Zombieland) plays our creeped-out heroine, joined by Danielle Panabaker (who has appeared in seemingly dozens of Disney movies, but she's also been guesting on the police procedurals) and Mika Boorem (several episodes each of Touched by an Angel and Dawson's Creek), who plays the regular, i.e., non-monster Alice.

Check out the movie's section of Carpenter's official site.
