MORNING HEADLINES: Rain freezes, descends upon city

Awesome weather — Which is good news for the snowbound, because the mountains are opening! Mount Spokane and Silver Mountain open this Friday, joining Lookout Pass and 49 Degrees North.  (SR) 

We're all war journalists now — The New York Times revealed today that one of its photographers in Afghanistan has been using his iPhone to shoot the war. And the photos look suspiciously like shots using Hipstamatic, a cheap yet awesome app for the phone. Who needs talent?! There's an app for that. (NYT) 

Bombs away Speaking of Afghanistan, President Obama was buoyed by his NATO counterparts this weekend, who supported his efforts in that country, as well as his endeavors to "reset" American relations with Russia. (NYT)

A 20th century papacy? Did you hear? The pope admitted that condoms and gay people exist! That's progress. (WSJ)
