Democratic Congresswoman Donna Edwards, of Maryland, spoke on the House floor today, quoting an unusual source: the White Stripes.

"This one goes out to our young people and our seniors and our service members and federal workers," she said. Because those groups are all renowned Stripes fans, of course. 

She didn't pick up an Airline guitar or don red and white. She simply read the lyrics from "Effect and Cause."

Nice work, congresswoman. Keep on rockin' in the free world.
