Neighbors lying to neighbors – Columnist Shawn Vestal takes on the flagrant inaccuracies (he suspects lies) of the anti-school bond group Citizens for Responsible Taxation, funded Alton Tire’s Duane Alton. In the latest case, Vestal finds, they’ve exaggerated “a proposed tax in the Orchard Prairie district by 10 times.” (SR)

MegaFlop – Despite repeated assurances that megaloads – massive trucks carrying huge pieces of oil equipment – wouldn’t cause problems, the latest truck through Lewiston took out a 20-foot tree branch, and snagged a powerline, knocking out power to 1,300 people for five hours. The shipment has been stopped, awaiting Idaho Department of Transportation investigation. (KREM)

Pot holders – Legal medical marijuana dispensaries are now, officially, legal. A bill passed by the state legislature gives dispensaries legal protections and adds new restrictions. Yet, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office, distributing marijuana is still against federal law. (KXLY)
