Welcome to the first edition of BACON ALERT — your only local news service passionately devoted to round-the-clock coverage of any and all things bacon in the Inland NW.

We kick things off with a gourmet bacon sighting, as Sous Chef Jeff Vance seriously brings it bacon-style this Friday, Oct. 7 at Sante. There’s a five-course meal or whatever, but what the people care about comes at the end of the feast, when Vance serves guests some mother-f***in’ BACON ICE CREAM.

There’s no word yet from Mayor Mary Verner about the projected impact this unprecedented bacon/dessert fusion could have on the community, being that it is (as far as our 12 on-staff bacon specialists are aware) the only one of its kind within at least a 100-mile radius of Ground Bacon Zero at the charcuterie.
