TONIGHT!

We’ve all been waiting for a band to merge the sounds of the Beach Boys and the Ramones. And thankfully the Eeries have arrived and deliver just that. Their new album, Home Alone, blends vocal harmonies reminiscent of 1960s surf jams with the kinds of poppy tracks that would make Brian Wilson proud. But this Philadelphia band also aligns itself with punk rock, which is evident in the rough edges of its recordings. Not only does this unique blend of sounds work well — it’s the kind of music that will have the windows of the Baby Bar coated in sweat, as the place dances, shimmies and hops all night long. They play the Baby Bar tonight with Bad Mood and BBBBandits (21)

Beware the impending invasion of a long-haired, horn-rimmed-glasses-and-poncho-wearing hipster who can belt vocals better than any soul singer this side of the Cascades. Allen Stone, the Chewelah-raised soul/R&B star, is coming to town. And, with a track record that includes opening for the Dave Matthews Band and an appearance at Sasquatch, he is more than likely to impress. His act incorporates more than just a stellar voice emanating from an unlikely source — a hippie with soul — but also includes an outstanding jazz and blues band that holds its own with the dazzling frontman. He plays the Knitting Factory tonight with Yuna and Tingsek. (All-ages)

We don’t always like country music, except for the times when we do like country music. Loretta Lynn is coming to town this weekend and the show is sold out, but you should hunt down some tickets if you can because Lynn is a legend still in the making. Here’s what The Inlander’s own Jordy Byrd had to say about her: "She endured the hardships of country living, she reared children, squabbled with mistresses and sang about the drudgery of changing diapers, wiping noses and pushing off groping, drunken husbands.
