THIS WEEKEND IN MUSIC: Rain can't stop the beat

Posted By on Fri, Sep 27, 2013 at 12:11 PM

The weather looks to be mighty nasty this weekend, with plenty of rain and wind predicted. Thankfully, the music going on is all happening indoors. Here’s what to be on the lookout for.

FRIDAY

The Flying Spiders will be putting on a show at Red Room Lounge in honor of their former member Isamu Jordan. The show will also feature Keenan Magic and Octo Ninjitsu. Donations from the event will be donated to the Som’s children’s college fund. The show starts at 9 pm. Suggested donation is $10. There will also be a silent auction.

Also:

- Learning Team, Scott Ryan and Prairie War at Mootsy’s

- Note our story on R.A. the Rugged Man says the rapper will be playing tonight at The Center, that show has been canceled.

SATURDAY

Flaamingos not only add an extra “a” to their band’s name, the alt-indie rock act adds an extra amount of energy to any venue they play. Saturday, the L.A. duo takes on Jones Radiator along with Mirror Mirror.

Also:

- Rio Grandes and Lilac Linguistics at Baby Bar

MONDAY

This day is close enough to the weekend to be included in this here blog so deal with it.

Haunted Horses (along with Bloody Gloves and Hooves) will be taking on Carr’s Corner Monday at 9 pm. At the very top of the list of the coolest shit we’ve seen this year was at Volume 2013 when, right there in the middle of Mootsy’s, the guitar player in Haunted Horses pulled a drill out and actually started playing his guitar with it. Yes, that happened. And, according to Inlander writer Leah Sottile, “seeing this band live is like a true, sonic-induced soul cleanse.” The show is $5.

Also:

- Zedd, Oliver and Alex Metric take on the Knitting Factory as part of their Big Fall EDM Pass Ticket
