Enrollment numbers in health coverage through Washington state's online exchange have nearly tripled since last week, according to the latest figures released from the Washington Health Benefit Exchange. 

Just under 25,000 Washington residents have enrolled in health coverage since Oct. 1, up from approximately 9,000 a week ago. Another 37,000 people have applied for health coverage through the exchange, but have yet to submit their payment, due late December. 

The great majority of enrollees are currently or newly Medicaid eligible. In all, 24,949 have completed enrollments, including 3,084 in private insurance plans, 8,495 in immediate Medicaid coverage, and 13,370 in expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act. 

The website, wahealthplanfinder.org, has gotten more than 1 million hits and 5.5 million page views since the Oct. 1 launch. 

This Wednesday, Gov. Jay Inslee will kick off the health exchange's mobile enrollment tour in Spokane at 2:45 pm at NATIVE Health on Maxwell Avenue. Starting at 11 am, visitors can meet with trained enrollment assisters at NATIVE Health and receive help signing up for coverage.
