THIS WEEKEND IN MUSIC: Man, we have Saintseneca and Spirit Caravan
FRIDAY
Saintseneca lead singer Zac Little puts all those folky posers out there to shame — he actually grew up on a farm in Appalachia. His group is based in Columbus, Ohio, but the experiences of his youth permeate all of his music. Still, the sound is at times contradictory. The traditional acoustic folk elements are all there, but so is an eerie indie-rock sound. Saintseneca’s new album Dark Arc arrives April 1. In the meantime, listen to the three tracks available for preview to get a taste right before the Bartlett show tonight. Vikesh Kapoor and Cold Mountain Yeti open the show starting at 8 pm. Cost is $10.
Coming at us with some weird names and fun sounds are Oooooob, Chisholmism and Momo Ya all playing at Mootsy’s Friday night. That show is $5 and starts around 9 pm.
Spokane metal act Helldorado just made a new album and they’re releasing it tonight. Local acts the Nixon Rodeo, Coming Alive, Thirion X and Evolved will open the Knitting Factory show. The action starts at 8 pm and is free for 21 and over and $5 if you’re not.
Experimental rock threesome Dark White Light is putting on a show at Baby Bar tonight along with Dammit Jim. It starts at 9 pm and like many shows at the venue, it’s free.
SATURDAY
The Grail, the live music place in Coeur d’Alene, is not to be forgotten. Come Saturday, the Adarna (of Seattle), Freak System, VanMarter Project, Elephant Gun Riot and Sonder will take over the place. The show starts at 8 pm is $5.
Marshall McLean Band takes to the Bartlett once more along with Scott Ryan and Jeffrey Martin Saturday. The show is $10 at the door and starts at 8 pm. Be sure to check out the act’s new music video.
Also you’ll want to see the Poison Idea and Bearcubbin’! shows. Yes, be in all these places at once.

Scott Weinrich — fans know him as Wino — has been playing music forever. Though Wino is best known for his work in Saint Vitus and the Obsessed, he’s been in more bands than you can count, says Inlander music writer Leah Sottile. Spirit Caravan, one of his oldest projects, showcases Wino’s haunting, doomy guitar sounds and unmistakable vocals. Head to the show at the Hop! Sunday for a solid night of psychedelic, heavy sounds. The night opens with Pilgrim and Rasputin at 7 pm and is $12.
