Gonzaga University is getting a new performing arts center thanks to a gift from Spokane philanthropist Myrtle Woldson, who died last month at age 104. The new center will be named the Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center and its location is to be announced this fall. (S-R)

A man hired by the Spokane Police Department to oversee its Youth and Police initiative program was released from his duties, charged with assault and evicted from his room at the Davenport following an altercation at the hotel on Sunday night. (KXLY)

An all-out shipping war has begun between online giants Amazon and Google. Google yesterday launched its same-day delivery service Shopping Express in Manhattan and L.A., while Amazon days ago said it's now offering similar services in Dallas, L.A. and San Francisco. (NBC)
