TONIGHT:

Seems the generation of singer-songwriters that dominated Spokane a few years ago is slowly leaving us, one by one. Tonight you can say farewell to Kevin Long, a beloved local singer, who is leaving our fair land for the western part of the state. He plays with Patrick McHenry (Mon Cheri) and Thomas Bechard at 7 pm. $7. All-ages. Check out the video below.

For a lot of moshing, pushing, shoving, yelling and air-guitar-ing, head east to the Greyhound Park in Post Falls for the Uproar Festival featuring Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Sour, Halestorm, HELLYEAH (whose bus was taking up about 15 spots downtown last night), Airborne, Hail the Villain and New Medicine. The cheapest tickets are $45.25. Doors opened about an hour ago, but I'm sure the madness will go all night. All-ages. We imagine many of the fans will be doing this (see video):

TOMORROW:

The schedule's kinda bleak, but we'd head over to dance to Peter Parker, spinning at the Baby Bar around 9 pm. Or if we fell into a Scrooge McDuck sized bin of cash, we might head over to Northern Quest to shake it to Hall & Oates. The Spokane River Acoustic Blues Festival, featuring nationally renowned blues singer Alice Stuart (she played the Berkeley folk fest in 1964), goes all day tomorrow at Northern Lights Brewery. Doors are at 2 pm. $15. Gotta be 21.

SUNDAY:

The Thermals gave Hummer the finger awhile back. The gigantoid mutant-car company offered the Portland indie band a fat wad of cash to use a song in a commercial. And though I’m sure it didn’t help their bank accounts to decline the offer, it did give the band some serious street cred. Their brand of political, pop-punk (think Ted Leo with a few more layers of candy-coating) was applauded by critics: in fact, 2006’s The Body, the Blood, the Machine was named in Pitchfork’s Top 200 albums of the 2000s. Anyway, they play The Seaside at 7 pm. $7 - $10. All-ages. (Read our story on them here.)

For something crunchier, folksier, head over to NYNE for John Craigie's performance. Following in the steps of Woody Guthrie, Craigie s a modern-day troubadour: a guy with a guitar and a whole lot to say about lovin' and livin'. He plays with the Shook Twins and J.S. Butcher. Show's at 7 pm. $7. Gotta be 21.
