Free tax sites around Spokane now open

Nine free tax preparation sites opened around Spokane on Friday where low- to moderate-income Spokane County residents can receive help preparing and filing their 2012 taxes. The volunteer-run prep sites will be open through April 15, the last day to file your taxes.

The tax preparation sites are open to people who earned less than $50,270 in 2012, and assistance is being provided through a partnership between the Spokane County United Way, AARP, IRS and the local CASH asset building coalition. 

If you plan on heading to one of the nine sites (listed below) to file your taxes, make sure to have all the necessary paperwork with you including the following:

  • Your 2011 tax return
  • A valid photo ID
  • All income statements including W-2s and 1098 or 1099 forms for you and your spouse
  • Social Security cards for you, your spouse and household members
  • Proof of any other income for you and your spouse as well as banking information
  • Child care provider information
  • Property tax information if you are a homeowner

Medical Lake City Hall, 124 S. Lefevre [Open Wed. and Thurs. from 5-7 pm]
