Snow News - THE FREERIDE League

by JEN FORSYTH & r & & r & & lt;span class= "dropcap " & W & lt;/span & ell, the time is upon us for the kick-off to the Northwest Winter Freeride League, Inland Northwest Series. Throughout the season, the series will be making the rounds to all of the region's mountain resorts and offering up an assortment of competition. The first event takes place this weekend (December 15) with the series heading up to Lookout Pass for two race events -- the Slalom and the Giant Slalom. This is all about speed and precise turns around the gates. Although not the most popular of the events, there are still some very talented racers competing.

Moving into January and February, the excitement heats up with the some of the more popular events. As Nate Wagner, Executive Director of the Northwest Winter Freeride League explains, "Slopestyle, halfpipe and boardercross are the most popular events, although there is still a strong following with the slalom and GS events."

Registration can be done beforehand on the USASA Website, which is preferred, or on the day of the event.
