The Corner Girls, Funeral Homies

The standard stock image representing punk rock is an angry white dude, like Henry Rollins or Ian MacKaye, screaming into a microphone about the ills of society. The Corner Girls are aiming to change that. The self-described “pastel punk” trio from Denver has committed itself to dismantling the patriarchy through one burst of feedback at a time, and, according to their Facebook profile, they’re approaching the genre by ditching “violence and masculinity for unapologetically feminine music.” And if their super lo-fi Bandcamp demo is any indication, their songs are as angry as they are enlightening.
