MORNING HEADLINES: Deadly milfoil

Milfoil not as funny anymore Local media have been reporting on the dangers of milfoil for years, but always just in a it's-so-annoying-how-it-clogs-our-lakes-and-makes-it-hard-to-water-ski kind of way. Until now. A 23-year-old woman died yesterday after being trapped for ten minutes beneath the milfoil on Horseshoe Lake. (KXLY)   

Fox can't win Congressional candidate David Fox made news last week after filing assault charges against a man he asked (nicely) to give him a BJ in downtown Spokane. It also came out that he had bounced checks and dashed-and-dined here. Now, the state says his $1,740 filing fee to run against Cathy McMorris Rodgers has bounced. (SR) 

California's gay marriage ban unconstitutional Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker ruled that "California has no interest in discriminating against gay men and lesbians," though appeals could still delay gay weddings there. (Slate)
