What to do when a mountain goat attacks?

Last week, a mountain goat attacked and killed a hiker in the Olympic National Forest.

Today, Slate put out a helpful explainer on what to do when confronted with an aggressive mountain goat.

The advice is helpful but can be boiled down to one word: Run. But if that doesn’t work, stare it down, pelt it with rocks and — if all else fails — take it by the horns.

"Mountain goats are powerful enough to break any human's grip, so you won't be able to hold on very long,” the article says. “If you can stall the attack for long enough, someone might come to your rescue — preferably with a gun."

Just don’t let it gore you.
