Tonight's First Friday goodness
"Aphrodite," by Janet Hess (Avenue West Gallery)

Downtown is where it's at this evening. For First Friday, all the galleries will keep their doors open at least until 8 pm. We recommend you make your first stop at Arbor Crest Tasting Room, located inside River Park Square near the food court. The acrylic paintings of Melissa Cole are hung with care, and some locally produced wine will be available for the tasting. Local musician Maxie Ray Mills will perform during this reception from 5-9:30 pm.

Chase Gallery, located inside Spokane City Hall, hosts a grand opening for photographers Zachary Mazur, Greg Siple, Ian van Coller and Jian Yang. An artist reception will be from 5-8 pm.

The metal sculpture work of Roger and Sherry Webb will show at Donzell Artist Studio, located up the road on Wall Street. Alexander Tielker will perform the violin during the reception.

At Avenue West Gallery, the artwork of mother Janet Hess and daughter Jennifer Phillips will be exhibited. Hess will display many drawings of women, and Phillips will show her intricate jewelry.

For a full list of galleries, grab an Inlander from a gazillion places around town and turn to page 56.
