Oscar Season is approaching, and if today's awards show for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts is any indication, the 83rd Academy Awards (Feb. 27) could be dominated by a stammering royal.

The King's Speech, a historical picture based on the plight of Britain's King George VI, who was beset by a stuttering problem on the eve of World War II, took home seven awards, including Best Film, Best Actor (Colin Firth), Best Supporting Actress (Helena Bonham Carter) and Best Supporting Actor (Geoffrey Rush).

Winning films that weren't called The King's Speech included Black Swan (Best Actress for Natalie Portman) and The Social Network (Best Director for David Fincher).
