MORNING HEADLINES: Olympia protest party

Posted on Fri, Apr 8, 2011 at 8:48 AM

Protest in the rotunda — Sixteen people were arrested yesterday after trying to storm the governor's office, part of protests against state budget cuts. Three of them were from Spokane. Word is that today, the fourth day of protests, will see even more people crowding into the capitol building, from 700 protesters to maybe 5,000. Party! (SR)

Ormsby vs. Ormsby — Washington state Rep. Timm Ormsby is trying to find a way to legalize medical pot shops. And his brother U.S. Attorney Mike Ormsby just sent a letter to those same shops threatening to shut the them down. (Most of the dispensaries are unmoved by the threat.) Brother against brother. It's like the Spokane marijuana civil war. (SR, KXLY)

What does Spokane need? — More apartments! On a prairie! (KREM)

D.C. Democrats cave! — And as usual Republicans say they didn't cave enough. Ah, the art of compromise. (Politico)
