Our dear Lady Bacon can be a fickle mistress indeed. She often appears in delicacies only to vanish off the menu after a short, passionate rendezvous with our taste buds ... and our hearts.

Our previous Bacon Alert cataloged her appearance at Sante, where she took the form of bacon ice cream. Today, she has moved on to something much more solid.

Amy Edwards of Amy E's Bakery in Moscow, Id., has made a special order of bacon chocolate bars for the Moscow Food Co-Op after their previous bacon bar was discontinued. Think the sexy saltiness of bacon combined with the rich essence of chocolate. It's arousing, to say the least.

But alas, it seems that like its predecessor, our time with this new bacon love is short.

"I don't know when I'll be making it again, or if I will be [at all]" says Edwards. "I'm too busy with my other candy."

Well. If that's how it's gonna be ...

Stock up now, for the end is nigh. I mean, they're bound to run out at some point. Sigh. Bacon, why must we forever chase after you?
