About 30 percent of eligible Spokane County voters had turned in their ballots as of Friday. Spokane County Elections reported that 79,722 of the 265,966 ballots issued have already shown up at their office. The days that saw the most ballots returned were Oct. 25, when 12,442 came in, and Nov. 1, when 11,953 were returned.

Precisely half of the voters — 42 people — in the school district race in Newport, Wash., have returned their ballots, as of Friday, giving that race the highest return in the county. In Spokane, District 2 is leading in returns, with 32 percent of voters having made their choice in the race between Richard Rush and Mike Allen for a South Hill council seat.

David Condon has raised nearly double the amount of money as incumbent Mayor Mary Verner. Condon's campaign has brought in $248,056, while Verner has raised $125,335.

In the City Council president race, Ben Stuckart has about twice the amount of money as his opponent, Dennis Hession, does. Stuckart, who came in second in the August primary, has raked in $109,807, while Hession, the victor of the primary, has taken in $55,804.

Candidates in districts 2 and 3 have raised about $20,000 to $40,000 for their campaigns. Meanwhile, in District 1, the two contenders there, Donna McKereghan and Mike Fagan, have been campaigning on the cheap. Fagan, who won the primary, has raised $12,975. McKereghan's campaign has brought in $4,083.
