PJALS ups it outrage level, last minute, on fiscal cliff protest

Posted By on Wed, Dec 5, 2012 at 12:18 PM

PJALS was already a little outraged when they began planning their protest,at 12:30pm today, calling for Senator Patty Murray to push for defense cuts, notcuts to Medicare and Social Security, in the ongoing fiscal cliff discussions.

But a few minutes ago, organizer Liz Moore called to let us know that they'venow decided on a more angry tone.

Yesterday, the Senate, including Murray, unanimously passed a measure funding$634.1 billion in defense spending.

"It is a really troubling sign of misplaced priorities and really poorstrategy in the midst of the funding fight," Moore says, to fund militarycontractors before funding "health care for poor kids, health care for seniors."

Absolutely nothing, Moore says, should be off the table from being cut untilthe funding is secured for the most vulnerable. Protestors will meet at theCommunity Building and then march over to Murray's office.
