Snow has melted, it’s not that cold. There’s no excuse to not get out there and soak up local music this weekend. Get going!

FRIDAY

Tonight, Sea Giant has not one but two shows. Catch the local electronic duo at Boots around 6:30 pm for free then head down the road to the Bartlett to see them open for the Wild Ones at 8 pm. That show is $10. That’s right, you can make your head explode with Sea Giant’s progressive synth-pop tonight.

Carr’s Corner will pull in a more singer-songwriter sort of set list tonight with Chelsey Heidenreich, Tommy G (see in the video above), Alex Alamos, Shelby McKinnon and Weary Traveler. A Spokane Artist Showcase, the show costs $8 and starts at 8 pm.

SATURDAY

Reverend Horton Heat (aka Jim Heath) is no ordained minister. Yet, his musical fans follow his three-piece psychobilly band with something bordering on religious fervor. Around since 1985, the Dallas trio were at the forefront of the American psychobilly musical movement. Coming through the Knitting Factory Saturday at 8 pm to promote their soon-to-be-released CD, Rev, their shows are still as fresh as ever. Horton Heat’s sets are all about ramming though one hard-hitting song after another. High-octane is an understatement here. Watch these guys and you may even forget to breathe.

There are three Hilker men in the 3H Band: father Fred Hilker and his sons Jordan and Lukas. With the addition of friend Jerrick Crites, the foursome makes progressive rock ‘n’ roll, blues and jazz without the use of vocals. Their sound floats and soars with reverberating guitars and smooth transitions. Saturday, the Spokane act is debuting its newest album, Utopia, at a free CD release party at the Phat House, which starts at 7 pm. But better late then never. This is the group’s fifth album.

Mootsy’s will show off some local folk acts Saturday. Harold's IGA, Duke Hogue and Feral Anthem will take to the stage after 9 pm or so. The show is $5.

MONDAY

Amazing guitarist Andy McKee plays the Bing Crosby Theater and Reel Big Fish, yes, the same one you’re thinking of, will take on the Knitting Factory Monday evening.
