After a surprising announcement last year that they would extend the festival to two weekends with two separate lineups, the organizers of Sasquatch! Music Festival announced this afternoon the second weekend is canceled.

The massive music festival at the Gorge has traditionally been held on Memorial Day Weekend. Last year the festival sold out in a record 90 minutes, which led to the radical change this year to two weekends β€” Memorial Day Weekend and Fourth of July Weekend β€” with two entirely different lineups.

That is no longer the plan. Jeff Trisler, President of Live Nation Seattle, said in the statement released today:

β€œThe Sasquatch! community has spoken. They continue to support the traditional Memorial Day Weekend event with great enthusiasm. Unfortunately, the second weekend was not embraced. We felt it was better to cancel the new event now and give everyone time to make alternative plans for the Fourth of July weekend. Going forward, Sasquatch! Music Festival will be at the Gorge Amphitheatre on the weekend the fans want: Memorial Day Weekend only.”

A limited number of Memorial Day Weekend passes are still available, and Ticketmaster will refund credit cards for passes purchased for the now-canceled Fourth of July Weekend. Some of the acts scheduled to perform will now play elsewhere, Live Nation says.
