MORNING BRIEFING: Gerlach found not guilty, Pope asks for forgiveness and Colbert out of character

Gail Gerlach was found not guilty yesterday. In a separate ruling, the jury found that his killing of Brendon Kaluza-Graham — who was driving away in Gerlach's stolen SUV — was justifiable homicide, meaning defense attorneys could ask the state to pay Gerlach's $300,000 in legal fees. (SR)
