We always have a slew of quality event listings for your perusal, and our cast of professional reporters give their Staff Picks as well. But if you don't have time to sift through all our listings have to offer, we can help.

Here are some highlights from our listings for Tuesday, Dec. 9:

WORDS | Poet Tod Marshall and a slew of other local writers will join forces at The Bartlett for the Boogie Woogie Book Launch, reading from their work and celebrating the great stuff being done by the local literary community. Go read our interview with Marshall, then get down there.

SPORTS & OUTDOORS | REI is hosting a chat that will teach you everything you need to know about avalanche awareness, which will allow you to get the most out of the outdoors this winter.

FILM | The Garland Theater regularly hosts retro flicks for its Totally Tubular Tuesdays screenings, and during December they're featuring holiday fare. The flick this week? None other than Home Alone, the classic that led to Macauley Culkin's inevitable awkward adulthood
