In between your parties celebrating your favorite presidents — as a Harry S. Truman man, I'll be delving into some Kansas City-style BBQ — you might want to get out of the house for some entertainment. Take a look at our vast array of event listings and Staff Picks for some guidance.

Here are some highlights for Monday, Feb. 16:

WORDS | The monthly Spokane Poetry Slam at The Bartlett tonight at 7 pm features Stephen Meads, a Portland poet who's competed on the national level and the Individual World Poetry Slam.

FILM | Got some kids on your hands due to the day off from school? Head to the South Hill Library at 2 pm for a free screening of Despicable Me, and maybe get some peace and quiet in the process.

COMMUNITY | Hey, look at this, another opportunity to fill your kids' time at a library! At the North Spokane Library at 4 pm, it's Monday Funday, and today's featured event is Art Club.
