A man in Kettle Falls allegedly broke into a family's home and threatened them with a knife while calling them terrorists, according to one family member, who was born in India and is a U.S. citizen. The family is Sikh and Hindu. The alleged attacker, Brandon Kilgore, told a police officer, "I was trained to kill people like them," the Spokesman-Review reports.
Thirteen people have been arrested in Spokane County and charged with attempted child rape in a sting operation conducted by the Washington State Patrol. The state patrol posted an ad on Craigslist to attract would-be rapists, and more than 1,000 people responded in about 20 days. Detectives then followed up with those who seemed intent on committing a crime, the Spokesman-Review reports.
