Spokane Drivers

Posted on Sat, Sep 22, 2012 at 8:23 AM

Having just moved back to the area after a two year hiatus in Germany, I
now understand why there are so many accidents, angry drivers, and
insurance costs have gone through the roof. Seriously, driving should be
the focus of your attention and not something you do in between eating,
drinking, texting, smoking, talking on your cell phone or looking at
yourself in the mirror. And directional signals are not an afterthought or
something you no longer need once you get a license, they can save lives. I
know it's a chore to lift your left arm all the way up to that little stick
on the side of the wheel, but if it's not too much to ask. We are fortunate
to live in a place where driving privileges are so easy to get, but that is
no excuse for lousy driving skills. In Germany any of these infractions is
sufficient to get you pulled over and tickets for violations are nearly a
months salary. Will it take those kinds of extremes to get drivers here to
straighten up? I hope not because after the speed cameras comes the big
fines. Just ask someone who has driven in Europe. Oh yeah, people please
check to see if your brake/tail lights are working the next time you drive.
Even bulbs in newer cars can go bad.
