Advanced Techniques for Drawing in Charcoal

Spokane-based artist Owen McAuley introduces students to tools and techniques for all genres of charcoal drawing. An emphasis will be placed on “subtractive” drawing, in which erasers and other tools are used to remove or manipulate charcoal. This stands in contrast to the traditional “additive” methods, where charcoal is applied to paper with minimal additional manipulation.
