BEST KIDS-FRIENDLY RESTAURANT

Chuck E. Cheese

For children who dream of flashing lights, fast-moving video, screaming kids and the ear-splitting noise of an arcade, this is Kid Heaven. Kids can prance around in Studio C and see themselves on several CEC-TV (get it?) video monitors. There's skee-ball, of course. There's even one of those live-action simulators that capitalizes on 9/11: "Brave Firefighters," in which you can douse the apartment flames while holding "real" fire hoses. While we like the quieter charms of Buzzy Buzzy Bee (where you lift the flying yellow-jacket-colored balls into the honey pot to score points), clearly the helicopter ride (which "levitates" several feet up a pole) is a big hit with the preschool crowd. Bring your earplugs, and be ready to dodge out-of-control kids as they dash for the Ball Crawl and the climbing structure. Oh, and they serve pizza, too. Face it, parents: you're merely an afterthought here.
