BEST TV WEATHERCASTER

Tom Sherry, KREM

Maybe we should just give this guy his own category, because he's always winning. Whether it's sunshine or heavy weather, Sherry and his famous weatherdog, Doppler the golden retriever, are the ones residents say they trust year in and year out.

It takes a Southern California native to find the fun in spring snowstorms. The Inland Northwest's "changing weather patterns make life fun and interesting," Sherry writes in his staff bio. Residents don't seem to hold that wacky weather optimism against him, perhaps because it's hard to hate a guy who smiles at Antarctic mornings.

Sherry started his radio career 20 years ago as an announcer, working his way up to program director at KRDK in Spokane. He joined KREM in January 1990, becoming its chief weatherguy in '93.
