It’s impossible to not have a good time at a bluegrass festival. That’s certainly true of the Blue Waters Bluegrass Festival, which brings an array of killer acoustic artists to the shores of Medical Lake every summer. This year’s has serious talent in store, including Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley and the Harmonic Tone Revealers (see bluewatersbluegrass.org for a full lineup), but the highlight just might be an homage to the Stanley Brothers. Each year the fest pays tribute to a bluegrass pioneer, and this year Jackstraw will act as house band as various musicians and festival director Kevin Brown tell the story of Ralph and Carter Stanley’s influence on American music through songs and anecdotes. The Stanley Brothers tribute is Saturday night, just one part of a weekend full of great music.
