Couches, Chung Antique, Normal Babies

If Brian Wilson and Kurt Cobain were to collaborate, the result might be the San Francisco three-piece Couches. With heavy guitars, easy rock rhythms, a California beach vibe and “don’t tell us what to do” lyrics, Couches is a breath of fresh air, a break from all the electronic and folk-inspired music new bands put out these days. Their recently released debut 7-inch “California” is an awesome antithesis to Phantom Planet’s The O.C. theme song of the same name. After playing the Treefort Music Fest in Boise earlier this year, the band is back in the Pacific Northwest to tear it up (and potentially eat some burritos) Sunday at the Baby Bar for a free show.
