Desert Island Discs

I'm so busy I usually never have time to listen to my favorite tunes. So for me, being marooned would be the only way to go. What to bring? How about:


Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde would be on my list. (I picked it over Highway 61 Revisited only because it has more songs on it.) This is Dylan at his best.


For pretty much the same reason, I would bring Decade from Neil Young. It's a great retrospective of his career from his Buffalo Springfield days through 1977. All his important hits are here like "Ohio" and "Cinnamon Girl."


The Best of Sam and Dave by, naturally, Sam and Dave is another collection I always keep close by my side. Songs like "Hold on I'm Comin'" were tougher and way more soulful than anything Motown ever produced. Dynamite.


The Fugs were hilarious, gross and sacrilegious all at the same time. I can't believe that The Fugs made it to CD. But it did. "Kill for Peace" is the funniest anti-war song of the '60s.


Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison is just a classic American album (performed live to an audience of prison inmates). The whole thing is great and very soulful. This is one album I can listen to again and again.
