"Enter the Magical Mystery Chambers," Wu-Tang Clan vs. the Beatles

Feeling pastiche-y?

This isn’t a Wu-Tang or a Beatles record — it’s a mashup of both, and a damn good one at that. Tom Caruana, the brains behind this Wu-Tang/Fab Four combo, isn’t going too far out on a limb here: Danger Mouse proved that the rap/Beatles formula works with its 2004 mash-fest, The Grey Album. But this 27-track experiment takes it to a different plane, and in the end, it’s a goddamn work of art. Caruana inesses the Beatles and Wu-Tang, stitching and patching together Beatles samples, cuts from covers of Beatles songs and random, hilarious interview excerpts. On the 21st track, “Uzi (Pinky Ring),” Caruana combines the entire Wu- Tang Clan’s vocals with — get this — four original Beatles samples, some Beatles covers by American jazz musicians, a cover by a Turkish artist and a George Harrison solo song. Uh, wow.
