Get a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to start a religious movement. Hare Krishna! is a newly released documentary about a 70-year-old Indian Hindu spiritual teacher who moves to New York City at a tumultuous time in American history with little to his name. Arriving in 1965, Srila Prabhupada began encouraging whoever would listen to seek freedom and happiness through introspection. Over the next few years, the Hare Krishna movement was established and became a pillar of American counterculture. Forty years after Prabhupada’s death, Hare Krishna! explores the ups and downs of going from poor immigrant to religious icon.
