Living Voices: "The New American"

When: Thu., Oct. 12, 7:30-9 p.m. 2017

Combining dynamic performance with archival film and photos, “The New American” tells the story of an Irish teenager's journey from the turmoil of the old country to the promise of America in 1910. As she endures the storms of a transatlantic steamship voyage, the chaos and indignities of immigrant processing at Ellis Island, and the hazardous working conditions of a Manhattan sweatshop, we learn what American liberty and opportunity mean to people around the world.
