Long before acts like Trans-Siberian Orchestra were bringing bombastic rock moves to holiday concerts, Mannheim Steamroller and group founder Chip Davis created an unstoppable Christmas-tunes machine out of keyboard-heavy, classical-meets-rock renditions of traditional carols. And while the Mannheim sound has become ubiquitous in waiting rooms and hotel lobbies since the group released its first Christmas album 31 years ago, the group’s flashy concerts have made it a touring staple this time of year, too.
