The Eastern Washington University Eagles are now 5-2 overall and 4-0 in Big Sky Conference play after their 31-19 win over the Montana State University Bobcats (2-4 overall, 2-2 Big Sky Conference) today at Roos Field in Cheney, WA.

Eastern Washington never trailed but in the fourth quarter, with a 24-13 lead, Eastern Washington quarterback Gage Gubrud, who threw for 224 yards with one touchdown and 21 yards on eleven carries, fumbled the ball, which was recovered by Montana State defensive lineman Derek Marks. Montana State then scored a touchdown five plays later on a five yard carry by running back Nick LaSane. They couldn't make a two-point conversion though, bringing the score to 24-19.

Eastern Washington wide receiver Dre Dorton then fumbled the ball during the ensuing kick off, with Montana State safety Ben Folsom recovering. Montana State gave the ball right back on the second of the next possession when quarterback Chris Murray, who threw for 135 yards with one touchdown and ran for 88 yards with one touchdown, fumbled the ball and Eastern Washington defensive lineman Keenan Williams recovered the ball. Eastern Washington then marched 78 yards down field, capped with a three yard touchdown carry by running back Antoine Custer, Jr., who ran 147 yards on 27 carries with two touchdowns on the day, to make the score 31-19.

On the following Montana State possession, Eastern Washington cornerback Victor Gamboa intercepted a pass by Murray. They were then able to run out the clock to end the game.

Eastern Washington wide receiver Nsimba Webster led all receivers with 6 receptions for 46 yards and one touchdown.

Eastern Washington next plays at Southern Utah on Saturday, October 21 at 4:05 pm. Their next home game is on Saturday, November 4, hosting Weber State with a 1:05 pm kickoff.
