Montana vs. Eastern Washington Football

Eastern Washington, led by quarterback Gage Gubrud, beat Big Sky Conference rival Montana 35-16 at Roos Field on Saturday, October 28. 

Montana struck first as receiver Colin Bingham caught a 16 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brady Gustafson. But, Eastern Washington scored three unanswered touchdowns, including a 69 yard and 5 yard touchdown pass from Gubrud to receiver Cooper Kupp. Tamarick Pierce scored a touchdown on a 2 yard run. 

At the end of the first half, a Montana drive stalled as they were forced to settle for a 20 yard field goal from Tim Semenza. Up 21-10, Eastern Washington scored two more touchdowns, including a 13 yard touchdown pass from Gubrud to Shaq Hill in the third quarter to seal the game.

Gubrud threw for 327 yards with 4 touchdowns and ran for 30 yards as Kupp caught 8 passes for 140 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Eastern Washington, ranked #3 in both the coaches and STATS Football Championship Subdivision polls, is now 7-1 overall and 5-0 in conference as Montana drops to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in conference. Eastern Washington next plays at Cal Poly next Saturday, November 5 with kickoff at 6:05 PT.
