In Canadian playwright Daniel MacIvor’s newest play, tragedy strikes Kyle and Hamilton Best when their mother, Bunny, is smothered beneath the girth of a drunken drag queen during a Gay Pride parade. Left to settle Bunny’s affairs, the two find themselves battling over what to say in her obituary, who should read the eulogy and finally — but most important — who gets the family dog. Whether you respond to calamity with solemn reflection or irreverent laughter, The Best Brothers looks to be a thoroughly enjoyable night at the theater. Delight yourself in this hilariously darkish comedy where Bunny’s boys prove that though they may never be the best of brothers, they will eternally remain the Bests.
