Where to take your sweetie, bestie or the whole family for Valentine's Day 2019

Don't wait too long to make reservations if you haven't yet. Valentine's Day this year falls on a Thursday, and as of this writing that's less than a week away. We've been noticing lots of local restaurants, bars and other venues sharing their offerings on the day of love; here's what has caught our eye so far:

Love, Beer & Dessert

Bellwether Brewing Co. is teaming up with Made With Love Bakery and Sweet Annie's Artisan Creamery to offer a beer + dessert pairing flight with five desserts and five beer tasters. Desserts on the list include salted chocolate shortbread, pecan pie bars and dark chocolate or coffee ice cream. Feb. 14 from 3-9 pm. $20/person; first-come, first-served availability. See more on Facebook.

D. Lish's Valentine's Dinner
Don't knock it 'til you try it. I've personally been treated to this super low-stress Valentine's Day special at the local drive-thru spot, which offers table service of two double cheeseburgers, drinks, fries, onion rings and dessert for just a single Jackson. D. Lish's has it right with this tip: "If your boo doesn't like our burgers, they're probably not the one." Feb. 14 from 5-8 pm. $20/two. Facebook event here.

My Sour Valentine
Fans of sour beer craze shouldn't miss this special Valentine's Day event at Community Pint. Starting on the 14th and running through the weekend, the craft beer bar is pouring five special sour beers from pFriem, Firestone Walker, Breakside, Grand Teton and Almanac with specials on flights and full pours (while supplies last). Feb. 14-17. Prices vary. Facebook event here.

Valentine's Day Dinner at North Hill
The cozy, hip new pub in the Garland District is offering a special fixed-price, three-course dinner, which includes choice of one appetizer, two entrees and a special house-made dessert, along with two glasses of champagne. Reservations are available, and definitely recommended. Feb. 14; seatings between 4:30-7:30 pm. $45/two. More details here.

Valentine's Dinner by Chef Chad White
As of this writing there are only 12 tickets left for this special six-course meal prepared by the Top Chef alum. On the menu: yellowfin, lamb, apricot and more. Feb. 14 at 7 pm. Tickets are $175, and can be purchased here.

Sante Valentine's Dinner
A limited number of seats are still available for the final Valentine's Day dinner at Sante, before it rebrands as Smoke & Mirrors later this year. The menu for two is designed for sharing, with two dishes per savory course. Dinner is $90/person, with optional wine pairings offered at $40/person. Feb. 14. Call for reservations: 315-4613.

Valentine's Chocolate Fountain Buffet
Through the weekend, Dockside at the Coeur d'Alene Resort is hosting a decadent chocolate fountain dessert buffet with milk, white and dark chocolate and all the treats for dipping. Feb. 14-17, from 4-8 pm. Tickets: $10 a la carte, or $6 when added to a dinner entree. Call for reservations: 855-379-5478. Facebook event details here.
